Is Ask Like A Pro Right For Me?

Yes, it’s the event title, but it really IS our core question for Monday night — is this program right for YOU?

  • Do you have at least a working knowledge of UX, product development and/or research?

  • Do you crave practical experience and guidance to level up in your UX research career — no matter your current job title?

  • Do you feel ready for growth within the industry but don’t have the skills or confidence required to get you where you want to go?

  • Do you need effective formal training — and a certification to show for it — but don’t want to enroll in a matriculated program?

  • Do you realize a great real-world project / case study could be just the thing to help you land that next-level job or promotion?

  • Do you want the support of an alumni community of fellow UXers?

  • Do you seek mentorship and guidance from a user research expert?

Do you have some questions about program fit that aren’t addressed in those bullets? Great, this Monday night’s event is custom-made for you! More than a one-way info session, this is an opportunity to chat with alumni in breakout rooms to discover whether Ask Like A Pro is a good match for you, individually.

If you are at all interested in UX Research, I highly recommend signing up for Michele Ronsen’s Ask Like A Pro Workshop! She’s a wonderful educator that cares about her students and that they are learning and practicing the right material. If you want to get a job in UX Research, take this workshop!
— Julia DeBari, UX Design Program Manager at LinkedIn, X-In Interaction Design Foundation, Flatiron, UC Berkeley Extension, and General Assembly

What kind of program is Ask Like A Pro?

Ask Like A Pro is a nine-week online series of six UX research workshops. The program leads you, hands-on, through an entire research project, “soup to nuts” — from planning your study, to finding the right participants, to crafting the right questions, to organizing your team and employing the right tactics for asking those questions, to analyzing the answers, and finally presenting your research to decision-makers.

This course is really helping me fill in gaps but also giving me more confidence to carry on research projects. There’s an assumption that since you’re called a #userresearcher that you can figure this out. Having to do this all by myself was very daunting. I feel like now I am more equipped to handle basically anything.
— Sandra Wang, All-In Student, Fall 2020 Cohort

How much time does Ask Like A Pro take?

Again, it’s about what’s right for you! Our “All-in” students dedicate more time to the program; they participate in live online workshops and get personal guidance, feedback and accountability from Michele and other students. “Observer” students have less interaction, but more flexibility in their schedule and the amount of work they choose to do. At our Monday night event, you can chat with alums about how they made it work, and figure out what will work for you.

Michele did a great job setting expectations for how to learn, and her enthusiasm for the subject matter and how frequently she checks in on our learning shows she really cares about her students and wants to be sure they’re grasping the content.
— Laura Belmar, All-In Student, Fall 2020 Cohort

What’s my program takeaway?

At the end of the Ask Like A Pro program, you’ll have a complete, polished, real-world project for your portfolio; increased knowledge, hands-on experience and confidence; and 45+ tools, templates, checklists, swipe files and other user research resources to leverage in your future projects. Not to mention the professional relationships you’ve built with fellow students (now fellow alumni!) along the way.

Michele really is an amazing teacher but more importantly, she’s a great mentor. She implores you to study the fundamentals but goes a step further in empowering you to utilize these tools with confidence. With this, you establish your own style as a researcher and develop wonderful and productive relationships within your team and beyond. It’s an iterative process, it’s doing the research as a team sport, it’s solving problems with your stakeholders and it’s building empathy for your users. Thank you Michele for helping me grow these foundational skills and mindset as a researcher!
— JR Pagdanganan, All-In Student, Fall 2020
