UXR is a collaborative process

This morning I met with a researcher who is the first researcher at her start-up. Her role is to both conduct research and build a research practice within her organization. To begin, she drafted a research request intake form which looked really good! One delta was assuming the information provided would be sufficient for her to begin her research projects.

An intake document will not provide all of the information needed, especially when research is a new practice within the org and many of her PMs do not have research experience. We also chatted about the need to manage her PMs/stakeholders' expectations early on.

Here is a slide from one of my workshops to help prepare stakeholders for what to expect and how you can talk about the need for collaboration. It's critical these conversations occur at the onset before bad habits are created.
