Giving Tuesday: 30% “bump” in donations!

Improve your research and extend your giving

Happy holiday whirlwind! I can’t believe Thanksgiving just passed in the US and we’re well into the season’s traditions!

While many focus on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday events, we’re concentrating only on Giving Tuesday! We’re adding a 30% “bump” in Curiosity Tank’s charity donation when you buy a 3-event ticket to the Curiosity Tank / Fable Accessible Research Series.

We’ve already raised nearly $7000, but are committing to giving more! Proceeds from all ticket sales benefit three fantastic nonprofits advocating for people with disabilities: Lighthouse for the Blind, Knowbility and Disabled and Here.

Join us for a critical and timely learning experience!

Organizations of all types are becoming more aware of the need to consider accessibility in their products and experiences. As User Experience Researchers, we’re providing the learnings that guide those decisions — so including participants with disabilities in our research is super important! Curiosity Tank is partnering with Fable, a leading accessibility platform powered by people with disabilities, to present this event series in an effort to improve the UX and UXR community’s understanding and awareness on this very important topic.

Event series highlights:

  • Session 1 focused on visual impairment with screen readers and magnification-assisted technologies. All ticket proceeds benefit Lighthouse for the Blind, providers of education, training, and community for people who are blind or have changing vision. Our Live Event for session one has passed, but when you purchase the three-event combo ticket, you’ll receive access to the replay and a great extended, one-hour recorded Q&A session!

  • Session 2, on December 7, 2021, focuses on invisible impairments such as hearing, dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and color blindness. All proceeds benefit Knowbility, whose mission is to ensure equal access to technology for people with disabilities.

  • Session 3, on January 10, 2022, focuses on mobility issues. All proceeds benefit Disabled and Here, a disability-led stock image and interview series celebrating disabled Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC).

Recordings with resources and materials will be emailed to all registrants, so you do NOT need to attend live. You may register for individual sessions or the 3-part series. Registration on Eventbrite is required.

Again, we’ve already raised nearly $7000, but are committing to giving more — so when you buy your $24 three-event ticket before Thursday morning, we’ll send over $30 to our charities. Please register and help us reach this milestone! it feels so good to give back, especially around the holidays!

Please share with colleagues who would benefit from or appreciate this topic, in your industry groups, on social media, etc! Our goal is to create more awareness for accessibility research, inspire practitioners to be more inclusive, and provide concrete, actionable steps to conduct more/better UXR that includes people with disabilities!

Huge shout out to the team at Fable who will be donating $500 USD to each sessions' non-profit beneficiary.

I hope to see many of you at these events. Here is the Eventbrite registration link again!

Quick Ask Like A Pro Note

We’re planning only two public Ask Like A Pro workshop cohorts in 2022! There will be far fewer slots in 2022 — so if this is the year you want to improve your research skills, get in while you can! The Winter 2022 cohort schedule is here, The Fall 2022 cohort will likely run from September 12th - November 22nd, 2022. Interested? Schedule time with Michele here to see if you may be a good fit.

Speak up, get involved, share the love

And that’s a wrap!

We try to alternate between a theme and UX/UXR jobs, events, classes, articles, and other happenings every few weeks. What do you think? We're constantly iterating and would love to hear your input.

Stay curious,
- Michele and the Curiosity Tank team

PS: Register for the Curiosity Tank / Fable Accessible Research Series here, now! Together we can create more awareness for accessibility research and raise more money for causes that matter.
