"I was certainly hesitant about being in anyone's "classroom" after finishing my Ph.D. program recently--- but this was so much more Michele Ronsen! Thank you for creating this experience, for pouring your all into us, and for your feedback/guidance in at every step/in every detail! Of course, I have areas of growth, but 1) I know exactly what they are now and 2) I have even more awareness of what I bring and that is largely thanks to you!"

"I'm more confident in stakeholder engagement, something that I never did before as a quant researcher… this experience also made me sure about that I can easily learn new things and transfer what I already know to a new skill. And I'm very good at interviewing… creating a rapport with participants."

"I definitely feel confident that I can do the job now. A lot of my skills are applicable. A lot of the ways of thinking and working with the issues, It felt very intuitive. I actually ended up accidentally getting ahead during the analysis part without ever having really studying the different methods. And it turned out that I had done the affinity mapping just on my own. I have confidence that I can do it. Obviously I need a ton of training still. I know that and this is a good fit for me."

"I also feel more confident in what I can do to help myself grow. We got a lot of resources and information and that was one of my main (goals) as well as to just better understand other ways to do things. And more efficiently. Exposure to other ways of conducting research, analysis and synthesis, storytelling… Now I have a direction to go in. This program is trustworthy. It's something that I can refer back to and review. And I can do a deep dive somewhere else if I need to. So that's what I'm pretty excited about now."

"Through this program, I built my improv skills. I do find that to be very valuable. Anything can happen in a research setting with your stakeholders, your participants. When we first learned about how UXR was just like art, science and improv, I was very nervous. I didn't think I had what it took to be that triangle. But with time, and continuous learning, and shadowing people in this cohort, and seeing and hearing everyone, and practicing it, I'm starting to see that that's coming through. That's pretty cool."

"It's been a while since I've interviewed participants and actually this was the first time where I did it completely by myself. Prior times it was with a team. I became much more confident and collected and calm. And in control of my thoughts and just the situation in general from the first interview all the way to the end. And I could  even see it when I went back and watched the reels, like the first one, I could hear kind of my awkwardness but by the end I was like, wow, like I got this!"

Sharing drafts of the findings through the debrief grid, and topline report drafts, and talking about them with the stakeholders before getting to the stage of the presentation took the pressure off from the presentation. Thank you for setting us up for success for the presentation and each and every step along the way."

“Life is pretty amazing right now! I got hired by Amazon to lead UX research for the Alexa home service team for a 6 months contract, but then I received an offer for one year contract with Microsoft. I gave notice to work for Microsoft. I could explain my experience as a UX researcher working on the sponsored project with stakeholders and other researchers, and as the UX research lead for Earth Hero’s community feature MVP where I lead our team of 4 researchers. Together we created a strategic research road map for a 8 week sprint plan. (I got this gig right after I finished All-In). Curiosity Tank gave me all the tools I needed to serve design teams and lead UX research with confidence. I still watch the classes and go back to the templates on a daily bases.”

“My investment in the ALAP workshop series is already paid off. I have literally never written a research plan in my life. Simply having the examples provided has been so helpful…. Your course is helping me lean into asking critical questions to help refine what was already created. Just seeing how things are laid out is helping me get out of analysis paralysis/fear of a blank page. The anxiety-reduction is worth every penny and then some. I'm so glad to be part of this!”

“I have gained many insights into how I can apply my academic research skills and teaching experience to UX research. Along the way, I have learned the best practices for collaborating with stakeholders and the art of storytelling for research. I am able to apply all of the skills right away to my next UX research project. Most importantly, the workshops and the hands-on project experience helped me gain the confidence to transition from an academic researcher to a UX researcher.”

“I learned a lot, especially how to conduct better interviews. Before, I thought interviews weren’t difficult, that you just asked questions and got answers. But you really have to think about the questions and how to keep things moving. I learned how to interact with participants better and use my improv skills. And that’s a key skill for a UX researcher and I am more confident in that now.”

“There are lots of twists and turns when you actually do the work. One of the biggest learnings was the value of having a note-taking framework and more structure. Coming from an academic background, I was used to letting interviewees lead, but when you’re pressed for time and need to turn things around quickly, it’s ideal to have it all in a format where you can glean things really quickly. I learned how to do that with this project, in a smart way, and have the buckets I need to be filled.”
