OH DEER!! Wowzers!!
OH DEER!! Wowzers!! I just returned from a two week vacation in Colorado and Oregon. OH MY GOSH did I need that time off!
Hiking, swimming, horseback riding, rock climbing, gondola and bike riding, floating, hot tubbing, cooking, painting, sleeping in, playing, lounging, coloring, ice creaming, stargazing, and more! It was amazing to spend time AWAY.
There’s tons of research about how important it is to take time off. I know you’ve read it. I have too. But let me tell you, I really, truly felt the benefits over these past two weeks like I haven’t before or at least do not recall.
(Re)connecting with friends and family, forging better relationships, creating memories, gaining new perspectives, smelling different things, appreciating nature, not setting alarm clocks, getting off of Zoom OH MY!
I zoned out, reflected and appreciated what I have. It gave me time to think - what a gift! - and time to consider who I want to spend more time with and how I want to spend that time.
It was such a profound getaway experience that I made a promise to myself:
**From this point going forward I will always have time off blocked out in my calendar. This will help to ensure I actually TAKE THE TIME OFF TO RECHARGE and always have TIME OFF look forward to when the life and stress ratchets itself back up.
I leave you with this beautiful photo of a deer (chomping at lunchtime away six feet from me) and these six words. TAKE VACATION TIME. YOU DESERVE IT.
