Common questions I explore

0 (1).jpg

90% of clients hire me to explore one of these questions as they relate to products, services, and the people they are designed to serve.

  1. What should we build? (We have an idea, see an opportunity)

  2. Who are my customers, users, members, etc.? (How do they think, feel, behave, what motivates them…)

  3. Are we building the right thing? (We aren’t confident, Why isn’t it working)

  4. Are we building the thing right? (Are we taking the right approach)

  5. Why did this metric go up or down? (What's going on)

  6. Do they understand this? (How do they interpret this, Does it make sense)

  7. How can we improve XYZ? (Make it faster, better, more intuitive)

  8. Should we implement this feature? (What are the pros/ cons)

  9. Can you teach me to do what you do? (How to find my own answers, DIY)

  10. Can you teach my team to do what you do? (Teach them to fish for themselves)

I love exploring all of these questions. While they may seem repetitive, they are not.

When applied to different companies, industries, products, features, and phases of product development, they take on a universe of their very own.

Truth be told, I am in love with #10.
