Story arcs help us map out our conversations
Learning to conduct user research interviews with confidence is a skill that keeps on giving. And it doesn’t have to be rocket science.
People often have this misconception that it's expensive, complicated, and it takes a really long time. There are core questions that you can ask that really do not take a lot of skill.
The art is in asking the right people, the right questions, at the right time AND and setting them up for success to gather honest and meaningful feedback.
An INTERVIEW DISCUSSION GUIDE lays this foundation. This guide, and all UX research interviews, follow a story arc (see visuals). The arc is consistent regardless of topic or session length.
In our Curiosity Tank INTERVIEW class students learn through our proprietary and templated process. They author and leave with a well-drafted discussion guide to gather feedback on, execute, and or include in a portfolio or case study.
We cover question types, their purpose, and how to dig deeper too. Our question bank is solid gold, scrubbed for bias, and organized by story arc phase.
