Jobs and Internships & Two Special Hiring Managers

I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working and collaborating with some spectacular people in our industry and some of them are hiring now.

Let me introduce you.

Tatiana Vlahovic

Fun facts >> I sketched out the idea for Curiosity Tank with Tati when she worked at Reduct.video in May 2019! She co-organized our first ever Curiosity Tank event focused on transitioning into applied research from academia called “Panel Discussion: What I Wish I Knew Before Starting a Career in User Research” (but really it’s terrific for anyone looking to get into the field or beef up their UXR job search, and comes with six pages of resources). Reduct.video was also our first-ever project sponsor, and they are returning to sponsor additional projects this cohort! So many ties here. I adore Tati and she is a terrific mentor too.

Now Tati is a Senior Product Research Manager at Credit Karma, and they have staff-level openings but will consider senior-level candidates, too. The Charlotte position is for Research Ops. Check 'em out!

Another fun fact >> We’ve had three Ask Like A Pro® students from Credit Karma! Feel free to email Tati directly about any of these Credit Karma positions.

Paul Derby is a UX Research Manager at Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

Fun facts >> Paul and I crossed many paths teaching at the Academy of Art University, working at Facebook, and sharing many many connections. But we had not actually “met” until we started to plan the panel discussion mentioned above. He is one of the panelists. Tati introduced me to Paul! This panel collaboration eventually grew to include Paul and me piloting the Curiosity Tank apprenticeship program together in 2020! Whoa, boy did we learn a lot!

Paul is an incredible coach and mentor for UX Researchers, and CZI does outstanding work for good! There are three open research positions at CZI. While they are not on Paul’s team directly, they are in CZI’s Science and Education Initiatives, they look pretty great nonetheless.

Another fun fact >> We’ve had two Ask Like A Pro students from CZI, and one is returning this cohort for another round as well.
