UX / User Experience

What is it? UX (User Experience) is the interaction, attitude and perception that someone has about a product, system, ecosystem (including communication), or service in regards to context, ease of use, relevance, efficiency, philosophy, and other criteria. It can be applied before, during and after use. While the term originated from HCI [human-computer interaction,] its meaning has broadened overtime to include brand, product, system and service i.e. non-digital interactions as well.]

When is it best used? t is best considered when designing, improving or comparing a defined part of an experience, or an end-to-end / holistic experience of any sort. Ideally, the UX meets or exceeds an individual’s expectations, without frustration.

What does it entail? t may entail many aspects (including physical, emotional, behavioral, psychological, environmental, social, spiritual, philosophical, etc.) a person (or pet!) experiences. UX is dynamic and constantly changing with time, exposure, familiarity, environmental shifts, culture, politics, and other evolving complexities.

NOTE: User Experience Design and User Experience Research are related to or derived from the umbrella term “User Experience.”
