YOU'RE INVITED: Did you know that one billion people (18% of the world’s population!) have at least one disability? Unfortunately, their perspective is rarely captured in formal user research.

Please join us on Tuesday, July 20th at 5pm PST to become more educated about this topic. We're opening up our next Ask Like A Pro Alumni Mixer with Sheri Byrne-Haber (disabled) to the public.

We'll discuss what accessibility is, its various forms, why it’s important, and how we (the broader UX, marketing, consumer, research, design, and product development industries) can individually and collectively better represent the needs of current and future people with disabilities.

We’ll cover:

• How do people with disabilities interact with software?

• Why don't accessibility overlays work the way they should?

• How can we make our videos and presentations more inclusive?

• What is different about conducting UX research with people who have disabilities?

• What new or additional recruiting needs should the considered?

• Where in the product development process should accessibility testing take place?

• How does accessibility testing compare to a standard UXR session?

• What should we measure during our user research sessions?

• What do assisted technologies look and sound like?

Sheri literally wrote the book on accessibility titled "Giving a Damn about Accessibility”. She'll also provide templates for screeners and guides that can be customized for individualized UXR sessions.

All proceeds will be donated to the GAAD foundation whose mission is to disrupt the culture of technology and digital product development to include accessibility as a core requirement.
