The “Anchors and Wind” approach

Sprint retrospectives are terrific and quick way for you and your team to reflect on previous work, upcoming work, goals to achieve, and ideas for improvement.

In the Curiosity Tank class called Orchestrate we borrow the fun “Anchors and Wind” approach to ascertain how we are feeling about planning and managing a study, or a transition into UX research

The activity is based on the concept of sailing. WIND moves you forward, an ANCHOR weighs you down, ROCKS represent risks, and the PALM TREE represents the goal or final destination.

This is also a great activity to take stock on something you're trying to achieve individually as well as with others. For example, you can use it to assess user experience from a participant or stakeholders POV.

We used Google Jamboard to whip these up in the 7 minute activity. Did I mention what a terrific and quick activity it is?

Use the link in the comments to create your own Jamboard! Make a copy of the board and have at it. Would love to see any boards you create in the comments below. It's super fun.
