Stretch marks! Three UX Research Events

As a user researcher, I have a passion for discovering and understanding human behavior and motivations. What I love about this field is that it allows me to continually learn, grow, and experience new things. Whether it’s through conducting research, planning fun IDI activities, exploring new methods, synthesizing findings, or presenting in new and interesting ways, there is ALWAYS something new to learn! (I swear have stretch marks on my face.)

This is why I am excited to share three upcoming user research events that provide a fantastic opportunity for growth and development.

Next level video storytelling skills

The first event focuses on creating and editing next level user research videos, and how to more effectively tell your research stories via video. This workshop is led by Miles Hunter, a supremely talented colleague (and friend!), international FAANG user researcher and professional video editor. He is the GO-TO expert on using video to inspire UX change!

Miles will cover the tools of the trade (and what to avoid), how to prepare and maximize footage for moderated and unmoderated studies, how to edit and cut effectively…and ethically, common pitfalls, incorporating visual and sound effects, and templates and strategies for different types of UXR video deliverables for a variety of situations and audiences. (Hello click bait teaser videos - and more!) He will also share a detailed hand-out with links to explanatory videos, further reading, and resources.

February 15th: "Edit UXR Video Like A Pro" workshop led by Miles Hunter (Ask Like A Pro Alumni Event open to the public). Register on Eventbrite 2 - 4 PM PST.

Finding the stickiest messages to boost conversions

The second event is all about user research for product messaging. This session is led by author, messaging strategist, and customer researcher Jen Havice. I have mad respect for Jen, her approach, and her outstanding track record. Jen will break down her approach, discuss the types of questions and research to help you identify the most important messages for marketing and sales, how to find those critical messages, share her messaging framework, and take a deep dive into "message mining". Real-world examples of positively impacted customer journeys (and increased conversions) will also be laid out. Jen can make even the trickiest of tasks less daunting!

February 20th: "UX Research for Product Messages" event led by Jen Havice. (Ask Like A Pro Alumni Event open to the public). Register on Eventbrite 4 - 5:30 PM PST.

Is 'Ask Like A Pro' Right for Me?

The third event is focused on Ask Like A Pro, Curiosity Tank’s signature training series for individuals who want to improve their UXR skills and get hands on experience and mentoring along the way. This session will provide an overview of our cohort learning, the phased approach, three levels of participation, calendar, takeaways, payment stipend, this cohort's research projects and sponsors, and more. Ask Like A Pro Alumni will speak to their experiences, answer questions, and share case their studies from the program.

February 21st: Is Ask like A Pro Right for Me? Q&A with Alumni (Improve your UX Research Skills with "Ask Like A Pro"). Register on Eventbrite 5 - 6:30 PM PST.

NOTE: Our first public 2023 cohort starts in late February. The first live workshop on March 5th. Our second and final public cohort of 2023 will run from September - November 2023.

(And yes, these three events will all be recorded and recordings will be sent to all registrants.)

Speak up, get involved, and share the love!

And that’s a wrap!

We try to alternate between a theme and UX/UXR jobs, events, classes, articles, and other happenings every few weeks. Thank you for all of the feedback. Feedback is a gift, and we continue to receive very actionable input on how to make Fuel Your Curiosity more meaningful to you.

What do you think? We're constantly iterating and would love to hear your input.

Stay curious,

- Michele and the Curiosity Tank team

PS: We're only offering two public Ask Like A Pro cohorts this year, and the next cohort starts later this month! If you’re ready to register click here to grab your spot! Need a little more info? Join our Live Info Session with Alumni on February 21st.
