Craft a winning UX research plan

This morning I led a private user research workshop for a global B2B team headquartered in France. This is the second of seven workshops for this awesome group. I am falling in love with them and their opportunity space!

Today we focused on how to craft a winning UX research plan with stakeholder buy-in.

  • How to gain confidence that your product and service-focused research will improve your customers’ experience

  • The importance of stakeholder engagement and how to align on success criteria and metrics

  • When and how to engage your stakeholders in the planning process

  • Research questions that yield accurate, relevant information

  • The difference between attitudes and behaviors and research questions vs. participant questions

  • Practiced forming good research questions for projects they are about to begin

  • And much, much more.

The entire workshop had an underlying theme about how to get the most out of applied research and the relationship you build with your researcher as well as how researchers can and should foster these relations with their stakeholders. UXR is a team sport!

Here are some slides from my presentation deck. I hope they inspire you to think about your user research, planning, questions, and stakeholder engagement with a new perspective!
